Emilia Ortega-Jara, LCSW is a Xicana psychotherapist in private practice, with over 25 years’ experience working in the mental health field. Emilia highlights the importance of culture, ceremony, and ritual throughout the work she facilitates with both youth and adults incorporating aspects of traditional Indigenous wisdom and eastern wellness techniques. In addition, to her psychotherapy practice, Emilia provides community trainings and workshops on various topics related to Xicanx/Latinx mental health and facilitates rites of passage ceremonies and nature-based grief retreats. She is the owner and clinical director of Corazón Counseling Service, a healing space which provides bilingual culturally centered, holistic psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and families in the Inland Empire.

Lisset Mendez, Macuilli Cihuatl Mazatl

Lisset is a chicana mother, wife and community activist/ advocate for the past 2 decades. She enjoys her work as a board member of a local nonprofit and has a passion for co- creating healing spaces using indigenous tradition and wisdom through her facilitator role in Xinachtli: Rites of Passage.
