In June, we gathered for a powerful conversation on
anti-blackness, colorism and discrimination in our Latinx/Chicanx communities. Led by Thea Monyeé, we
--a community of BIPOC mental health practitioners--
went DEEP into ourselves and were inspired to keep the movement going.
Healing Ancestral Wounds:
For Decolonizing Practitioners
is a two-part plática that will guide us in continuing the process of decolonizing our mental health practice. These two interactive, participatory workshops are designed so that we may go deeper into our soul work to rediscover our sacredness, joy, and pleasure-- all of which are decolonial tools.
In part one, we will focus on the colonized/colonizer realities of our ancestry, releasing judgement and moving towards acceptance. This process will naturally and effortlessly increase joy, removing shame which is a major road block in building relationship with self and with others.
In part two, we will learn decolonial tools that we can use in therapy that are based in Love, Justice and Joy. We will learn how to embody these tools so that they manifest not just in our practice but also in our everyday lives with family, friends and community.
